Tom's First Blog...

What to write? That's been going through my head for the last 10 minutes.

Theresa comes out with a lot of ideas, of varying degrees of practicality. I've become quite adept at normally batting these ideas away. This one however, definitely gave me pause for thought.

I've always been an aspiring writer of some kind. Primarily journalism but at a time when I was probably too young to appreciate how much work was needed to try and forge a career in it. Life takes over. You meet someone, you fall in love, you enjoy that person's company. You concentrate on the here and now and then a baby comes along :)

I don't know if this will be enlightening to some, funny musings or just inarticulate babble. Maybe all of those. I say this to people all the time that as I get older, obviously you mature and change but a large part of me feels no different to when I was a kid and I feel that still won't have changed in twenty odd years time either. It's oxymoronic to me to think like a child and have a child but maybe we all have these thoughts.

What I would say about Theresa and I is we're both quite unorganised people. One of us maybe more than the other. You can work out which one's which in due course. Chuck our, as I write this, 3 and a half month old, into the mix and we're really being tested.

I guess why I'm writing this is to share our stories. We want to show the good, bad and the truly awful moments. We want a realistic snapshot of our lives with Dylan.

As the name of our blog suggests, we're not planners. We take each day as it comes. It's mad how one day you're two, Dylan is born and then everything changes. We love it. Man it's hard sometimes but he is great.
